<\/a>Simultaneously country and street with an animated flow that combines a Southern drawl and some Midwestern twang, rapper Nelly is all about good times and singalong hooks. Although he seemed like a novelty when he debuted in 2000 with the Top Ten pop hit “Country Grammar (Hot…),” he quickly proved to be a legitimate hitmaker with the chart-topping “Hot in Herre,” “Dilemma,” and “Shake Ya Tailfeather” among a dozen additional Top 40 hits throughout the rest of the decade. Country Grammar<\/a> (2000), his diamond platinum debut album, laid the foundation for a career that boasts six consecutive Top Ten albums through 5.0<\/a> (2010). Bankable in his second decade despite releasing fewer full-length projects, Nelly scored his eighth platinum hit as a headliner with “The Fix” (2015). Kelly<\/a>, who had both recently released very successful two-disc sets). Sweat<\/a> and Suit<\/a> were led by a pair of red-hot singles — “Flap Your Wings” (a club jam) and “My Place” (a slow jam) — and debuted at the top two spots on the Billboard 200 album chart.
